Should I take COBRA or get individual health insurance?
I am 60 yrs old and have high blood pressure. My spouse is 62 and smokes. Under COBRA, we would pay $836 a month for medical and dental. So, my husband texted me today telling me that our auto insurance had been canceled because apparently we didn’t send them papers they wanted. Last year my girlfriend has a car crash, she was not at fault. So she didn’t tell her insurance company and claimed of the other party. So she is assuming her car insurance does not know. Now I am looking to get insured on my first car. If I add her to my insurance as a named driver the premium is about 200 less. The problem is she doesn’t want me to tell the insurance company that she crashed, as they asked has the named driver crash. I am now worried I were to crash, they would see she had crashed and void the insurance. I am tempted just to get my insurance in my name and pay the extra 200 for peace of mind. She will not under any circumstance tell her insurer she crashed as she thinks her premiums will rise. But I have found out that the insurance companies have a database of all claims, so they can easily find out that she has crashed.
